Job Hunt Plan 9
busy day, running to downtown burlington
twice plus a spin by the college, but not in that order.
I finally went down to CameraLand to get
an application (I saw the ad in the paper on Thursday). The place was not
what I expected; it wasnt just a one-hour photo place, but a full-blown
camera store. Hmm. I havent really dealt with photography for almost two
years, I hope I get the job. the ad said "photography & computer knowledge
helpful"; well, I know more than the average schmuck on the subject of
developing film, and I think I know more about computers than most people
seeking jobs out here (Where you aware that Iowa has the highest national
percentage of senior citizens, and the highest rate of smokers?). No idea
what it pays, but itd be great if they have Photoshop 4, Im only running
Photoshop 3 and Id love a free upgrade (heh). I also did an application
over the phone for a Retail Merchandiser position. "How much experience
do you have in Retail Merchandising? Press 1 for 1 year or less, Two for
2-5 years..." *2* "Can you lift 30-39 lbs? Press 1 for yes..." *1* "Can
you climb a 10 foot ladder? Press 1 for yes..." *1* "Can you work alone?
Press 1 for yes..." *1*. Pays $8.50 an hour, I hope I get this one. But
the telemarketing application makes me feel weird. I also applied for a
"Shelver" position at the library. I worked at a library for about a year
and a half as a Page, which is the same thing basically. No idea what that
pays.
So I applied at jobs where I have a better
chance. I hope.
on a little sidenote, the episode of Challenge
of the Superfriends had Apache Chief, The Flash, Batman and Robin stripped
of their powers and forced to fight android replicas of themselves. Okai...Apache
Chief can get real big as his power, fair enough. Flash runs REAL fast
as his power, works so far. Batman and Robin...they lost their utility
belts.
yeah
I was under the impression that both were
very good at martial arts & shit like that, the utility belts are just
for grappling hooks, batarangs, handcuffs, and the odd smoke bomb. hmm.
well at least its just a cheap Saturday morning
cartoon. I can excuse them based on that fact. Now, the last two Batman
films, hmm...
