red poem
i took the afternoon off
decided to drive downtown
bought myself that truely american lunch
burger & soda
take the turn onto jefferson, like an idiot
stop lights every five feet, or something like that
gas brake gas brake, et cetera
guy in front of me, pickup truck
slower then my high school chemistry teacher
(she had an ass you could hollow out and live in)
i yell to myself,
"someone in front of you, or are you just going slow to spite me?"
giggled to myself, thought it was funny
ol' peaceful patient alexander
screaming at traffic
ice in the soda is melting
burger getting cold
gas brake gas brake left turn park
sit down in the coffee shop, finish my lunch
think ill have a coffee and a smoke
whole buncha fancy coffees
al-tur-a?  what the hell is that?
i just want a coffee
plain jane coffee
no luck
thats the modern world for you
everything simple turned uselessly complex
